Enhancing the Wilfred Costume

Once you’ve got your Wilfred Costume, and variable accessories, ranging from the rough beard, black painted dog nose, bong, bear, back-pack, or whatever else you can get that matches Wilfred, then you’ve got to start thinking about how your going to act. It’s one thing to put a costume on and forget that you’re wearing it. That’s fine, but there are also other options when you decide on who you’re going to be for Halloween. If you’re going as Wilfred, why not practice his behavior to enhance it even more? What are your options?

You can always get someone to play along with you. For instance, if you’re going as Wilfred, why not get a buddy to be Ryan? Got a friend who looks like him? If he loves the show maybe he’ll like the idea of going as Wilfred’s best buddy. Since Ryan typically dresses rather normal it wouldn’t be hard to replicate. You could even pull it off where Wilfred and Ryan have the same kind of relationship and Ryan won’t accept that anyone else could possibly be seeing Wilfred. If you have a girlfriend, wife or other female that likes the show maybe she can be your Jenna. Wilfred and Jenna would make a lot of sense. The possibilities are endless on how far you’d want to take the whole thing. That’s one that makes Halloween as awesome as it is, buying costumes or making your own version is just one aspect. Then you get to act like your character the entire night. Not something that you get to do often so enjoy it.

Get your Wilfred costume on and prepare to have a blast! Don’t be afraid to act out the character but don’t get it any trouble. Wilfred obviously pulls some pranks and gets into trouble but don’t take it too far. Some of the things Wilfred does, especially involving getting Ryan in trouble could get you in some hot water if done in real life. First and foremost, enjoy yourself but be careful. Get into character, make people laugh, but remember Halloween is for fun, not for mistakes.

Don’t forget to take good care of your costume. It’s going to be a big hit next year as well, and I’m sure you’ll still like the show so keep good care of your costume and don’t get any rips or tears, or especially stains. You can always have the costume dry-cleaned but sometimes it can change the look or size so it’s best to keep it as tidy as you can.

One thing I can recommend is watching the show before you go out to get into the Wilfred character. If you can do an Australian accent even better! It would be awesome to see someone act like Wilfred the entire night without breaking character. That could drive some people crazy but would be an awesome story to tell later on! Some people might not get it, especially if they’ve never seen the show, they’ll just think a weird dog got invited.
